NaBloPoMo 2011: Day 7

Making family time is important to me. How do you balance your children, relationship, and work life? (Guest Post by Ricki Lake, who can be found on Facebook or Twitter @RickiLakeShow)

My wife and I are busy people, and so are our kids. We work at different universities and the kids have college classes (at two different campuses), middle school, high school, drama, piano, violin, etc. For now, everyone lives under one roof, which means we can have dinner together every night, and we all have chores to keep the house running. Even with writing, teaching, conferences, training, and activities, we make time for family activities, whether it is going to the game store with me for an evening  of role-playing games with friends, or helping bake something in the kitchen, the annual trip to the Renaissance Festival, or simply sharing time in front of the TV as a family. We understand that, all too soon, our children will be off to college and getting places of their own, with their friends and relationships that will pull at the available time, so while we have them under one roof, we make the most of the time we can carve out.
