101 things in 1001 days

the what

101 Things in 1001 Days is the brainchild of Michael Green, a blogger and developer from NZ. He created a list of tasks to achieve within a defined period, and the idea quickly spread around the web as a tool for helping people accomplish their goals.

do:: Complete 101 specific tasks within 1001 days.

conditions:: The project’s home page and description. The tasks must be SMART:

  • Specific,
  • Measurable,
  • Achievable,
  • Revelant, and
  • Time-bound.

the why

Lists of things to do and resolutions almost all suffer from the same defects:

  • Tasks are ambiguous – not clearly stated.
  • The task’s end cannot be easily seen – not quantitivly measurable.
  • There is no urgency to get on task and stay on task – no due date (time-bound).

By setting a large number of tasks with a set end date, it is obvious to everyone, that you cannot wait until the last moment to get to work.

the when

begin:: 15 February 2010 (no time like the present!)
end:: 12 November 2012 (just in time for thanksgiving!)
